2025年9月1日，康乐团队以“Chromatin dynamics of a large-sized genome provides insights into polyphenism and X0 dosage compensation of locusts”为题在Nature Genetics发表了最新研究成果。
在此次研究中，团队完成了飞蝗和沙漠蝗染色体级别基因组组装。并以飞蝗为研究对象，构建了迄今为止在超大基因组背景下最为全面的染色体级染色质修饰图谱。研究发现，活性增强子介导的转录上调促进飞蝗群聚行为发生。作为X0性别决定系统的代表物种，大基因组背景下，飞蝗具有独特的距离依赖剂量补偿机制。在物种演化过程中，近期从常染色体转移到X染色体的基因在剂量补偿机制上存在滞后效应。康乐院士为通讯作者。
