University Introduction

Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology (hereinafter referred to as “SUAT”) is a public university hosted by the Shenzhen Municipal People’s Government, approved for establishment by the Ministry of Education in May 2024. Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology is a newly established university in Shenzhen, a city full of charm, dynamism, vitality, and innovation. The university is built on the rich scientific, educational, and industry resources of the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences (hereinafter “SIAT”), with a “high starting point, high level, high standards, and high quality” approach to establishing a world-class new research university.

Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology aims to promote high-level scientific and technological self-reliance and self-strengthening, and to independently cultivate top innovative talents urgently needed by the nation. Drawing on the educational models of world-class science and engineering universities, it integrates industry and education, fuses science and education in its operations, builds disciplines through interdisciplinary approaches, adopts a “three-in-one” model (college, research institute, and residential college) for talent cultivation, implements elite undergraduate education through three tracks—academic, engineering, and entrepreneurial—and provides tailored education to develop outstanding scientists, excellent engineers, and innovative entrepreneurs.

Institute Introduction

The “Institute of Cell and Gene Technology” (hereinafter “the Institute”), led by Academician Kang Le of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, focuses on the following key research directions: Leveraging new tools and approaches such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and automation, along with interdisciplinary advantages, to conduct innovative basic research and tackle key technological bottlenecks in cell and gene-related fields. Strengthening cooperation with enterprises, hospitals, etc., to promote the translational application of cell and gene technologies in clinical, agricultural, food, industrial, and other sectors, driving the development of related industries.

We welcome research and technical talents in fields including but not limited to cell biology, gene editing, stem cells, immunology, chemical biology, insects and biopesticides, computational biology, and various omics disciplines.

Position Categories

Professor Positions: Distinguished Chair Professor, Distinguished Professor, Distinguished Full Professor, and Distinguished Associate Professor positions;

Other Positions: Postdoctoral Fellows, Full-Time Researchers, Research Assistants.

Eligibility Requirements

(1) Distinguished Chair Professor / Distinguished Professor. Candidates should be internationally outstanding scholars in their field, with academic achievements widely recognized and respected by the domestic and international academic community, capable of leading the development of the discipline or reaching/catching up with international advanced levels; possess extensive experience in mentoring young researchers.

(2) Distinguished Full Professor. Candidates should have sustained, high-level academic output and broad academic influence in the relevant field, with the potential to become a leading figure in the discipline and a certain level of international recognition; generally should be an independent Principal Investigator (PI) at a renowned university or research institution domestically or internationally.

(3) Distinguished Associate Professor. Candidates should have achieved excellent academic results, demonstrating strong academic influence and development potential, with achievements recognized by the domestic and international academic community; generally under 40 years old, with the ability for independent development and sustained growth potential as young talent.

(4) Postdoctoral Researchers. Candidates should be about to obtain or have obtained a PhD degree within the past 3 years, generally not exceeding 35 years of age; possess a high academic level and strong research capabilities.

(5) Full-Time Researchers. Candidates should hold a PhD degree with more than 2 years of work experience, possessing strong research capabilities and team collaboration spirit. May be appointed as Researcher, Associate Researcher, or Assistant Researcher based on qualifications.

(6) Research Assistants. Candidates should hold a master’s degree; capable of assisting in project research and daily project management.

Job Responsibilities

Basic responsibilities for professor positions:

1. Align with the fundamental goals and development plans of Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, independently leading a research group in innovative scientific research;

2. Independently apply for various scientific research projects and funding;

3. Manage the research group and guide its scientific work;

4. Mentor graduate students and teach graduate courses;

5. Actively organize and participate in university-related activities, including academic conferences, recruitment, and collaborative exchanges.

Basic responsibilities for other positions:

1. Independently conduct scientific research under the guidance of the research group leader;

2. Independently or assist the group leader in applying for various scientific research projects;

3. Assist in guiding the research work of PhD students and other personnel in the group;

4. Assist in laboratory management.
