Profile

Dr. Peiliang Wang is a Specially-appointed Associate Professor and Master's Supervisor at the Institute of Cell and Gene Technology, Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology. He is experienced in interdisciplinary collaboration with clinicians across medical specialties and with teams in biomedical engineering and bioinformatics. His research focuses on developing and optimizing technology platforms for the directed differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells (hPSCs) into hematopoietic and immune cells for industrial application, investigating the developmental mechanisms of the resulting hematopoietic and immune cells, and advancing the clinical translation of hPSC-derived blood and immune cells. In parallel, he uses hPSC-derived endothelial cells to explore therapeutic applications for ischemic diseases and develops hPSC-derived vascularized organoids containing tissue-resident immune cells for disease modeling and drug screening. He received the 2025 International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) Travel Award, the 2025 Outstanding Postdoctoral Fellowship from the Peking University–Tsinghua Center for Life Sciences, and Tsinghua University Comprehensive Excellence Scholarships in 2020 and 2022. He serves as principal investigator on one Youth Program project funded by the Beijing Natural Science Foundation. In recent years, he has published 15 papers as first author, corresponding author, or co-author in journals including Biomaterials, Advanced Science, and Nature Communications, and has four invention patents that have either been granted or are under examination.
